Atomic Habits

Atomic Habits

Atomic Habits by James Clear

Okay, so this book has been around for quite some time, and I’ve seen and heard about it everywhere. But I’m one of those people who tend to avoid things that everyone else likes until they’re no longer cool. Ie Dan Brown’s novels (not bad, by the way). However, in the case of Atomic Habits, I regret not reading it much earlier. The concept is so simple yet incredibly sensible, and I’ve already started implementing some of its ideas, even though I’m only a few chapters in.

Halfway through the book, and my enthusiasm for it hasn’t waned. The idea of making small changes and establishing new habits that align with who you want to be really resonates with me. I’m currently using the tools outlined in the book to develop a few new habits.

If you’re looking to make significant changes in your life but find it overwhelming and end up doing nothing (like I used to), I wholeheartedly recommend this book. It has rightfully earned its status as a bestseller and has received well-deserved praise.

I’m nearly done with the book now, and I’m committed to incorporating some positive habits into my life (such as writing every day). So far, things are going well. I’m exploring new strategies for implementing good habits and striving for daily self-improvement.

Having finished the book, I feel inclined to read it again to let its insights truly sink in. I’ve started with two small habits: doing 10 leg lifts every morning after making my bed and writing every day. This morning, I’m sitting in a coffee shop on my way to work, having woken up a little earlier, savoring my Oat milk Latte (I’m lactose intolerant) and enjoying a ham and cheese toastie while basking in the sun and gazing at the ocean. It’s a positive way to reinforce the habit and helps overcome the initial challenge of waking up earlier.

Only time will tell if these habits stick, but I’m committed to applying what I’ve learned from the book. And if you’re reading this, I suppose it’s working for me. I can’t think of higher praise than that. So, if you’re considering picking up this book, perhaps it will work for you too.

Regardless, I wish you the best of luck on your self-help journey.
